The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and Statistics Sierra Leone have launched the National Tourism Census Report at the Miatta Conference Centre in Freetown on Monday January 13, 2020. According to the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr Memunatu Pratt the report is the mother of all Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping in Sierra Leone. Not only will it help to reduce fraudulent activities, it will equally give marketing a very good position. The report would help in the institutionalization of tourism and the development of the tourism master-plan for Sierra Leone.

At a time when access to reliable data remains a very big challenge in the country, Commissioner Yeama Thompson of the Right to Access Information Commission (RAIC) is optimistic that the tourism census report would greatly solve that problem. Funded by the Government of Sierra Leone, the report would contribute to the advancement of tourism in the nation by providing real time information on touristic resources around the country.

Africa Young Voices (AYVTV), a market-leading news and entertainment media company, few days ago announced it had been awarded broadcasting rights for the Vickie Remoe Show, making AYVTV the official broadcast partner of Sierra Leone’s premier business, and travel TV Show.
AYVTV was awarded exclusive broadcasting rights for the Vickie Remoe Show after a digital collaboration with the show’s producers for the 2018 national elections coverage. Combined with AYVTV’s Big Brother Housemates-SL, which debuted in February, the acquisition of the Vickie Remoe Show solidifies the company’s position as the pre-eminent broadcast platform for Sierra Leoneans in the 18-45 demographic.

Don’t say the corpuscles of the RUF war do not cockroach
Through the veins of the peasantry
Who have been longing for the Alcatraz Escape
From the Robben Island of their oppressors.

Don’t say the war is dreadful
With Mengele’s experimentation
Coloured with casting lot for the gender of foetuses
With the Mephistophelian laughter of the bayonet.

A recent newspaper column, “Freetown History Distorted,” by Cecil MagbailyFyle, found fault with my more soberly titled and acclaimed book, The Temne of Sierra Leone: African Agency in the Making of a British Colony. I have decided to submit a rejoinder for a number of reasons. First, Fyle’s analysis of my work is full of inaccuracies and unsubstantiated claims. Second, Fyle admits that his critique is triggered by my non-recognition of his contribution to the discourse on the origins of those referred to as “Creole.” Hence he uses his analysis as cover to advertise his works.
